Visual Studio Code Extension Settings

Vault Toolbox is configured through Visual Studio Code's own settings editor. To view or edit Vault Toolbox settings, open the Settings editor and search for Vault Toolbox, or click in the header of the Vault Toolbox panel.

Each of the following settings sets defaults for how Vault Toolbox should connect to environments:

  • API Version: The Vault API version to use, for example v26.2. Leave this setting blank to discover the Vault's latest supported version at connect time.
  • Auto Connect: Automatically connect to the active environment when a workspace opens. Disabled by default.

Each of the following settings is a workspace-relative folder. Vault Toolbox writes into a subfolder named after the connected Vault's ID under each.

Each of these settings can also be changed from its own action's Change Location link or dialog, which opens the same setting.

  • MDL Directory: Where extracting MDL from Vault writes to, with a further subfolder per component type. Defaults to vault-toolbox/mdl.
  • SDK Code Directory: Where extracting Java SDK Code from Vault writes to, laid out as a Java package tree. Defaults to vault-toolbox/sdk.
  • Config Report Directory: Where downloading Vault Configuration Reports writes to, with a further subfolder per run (by timestamp), so each report is kept as a point-in-time snapshot rather than overwritten. Defaults to vault-toolbox/config.
  • Developer Logs Directory: Where developer logs downloads to, with further subfolders per log type and log date. Re-downloading the same date refreshes that date's file. Defaults to vault-toolbox/logs.
